Kayla Millard, director of admissions and business development, at the Senior Expo in Pikeville

On Oct. 9 and 10, 2018, Life Care Center of Rhea County in Dayton, Tennessee, had the honor of attending the Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative Senior Expo.

The facility set up booths at the Dunlap Senior Center on Oct. 9 and at the First Southern Baptist Church in Pikeville on Oct. 10, thanks to the coordination of Cathy Black, SVEC communications specialist.

The Senior Expo is a community event for men and women 55 years and older to receive basic health screenings. The health screenings included flu shots, cholesterol tests and mini-sessions designed to inform seniors about staying healthy. Attendees received a light breakfast and lunch.

This event is also a wonderful opportunity for local agencies to meet one another and understand what services are offered within the community so they can better serve their residents.

“Citizens often do not know what services are available to them or who to contact to obtain these services,” said Mike Partin, SVEC president and CEO. “Through this event, [SVEC] hopes to help improve awareness of the services available in our area.”

This was the 20th year for the event.
